Sarah's House

Sarah's House

Three hot meals and safe shelter aren’t the only things Whitney has gained through Sarah’s House, Catholic Charities’ shelter program for homeless families suffering from poverty from a variety of causes. When this Anne Arundel County resident challenged her landlord about criminal activity in her apartment, the dispute resulted in eviction for the mother of two small children.

Left on the streets without a means to support herself or care for her children, her prospects were bleak. Once entering Sarah’s House, case management helped her begin an employment search while the program provides all daily meals, an apartment and on-site daycare.

Long-term goals of creating a savings plan and finding affordable permanent housing are addressed through financial budgeting sessions. The welcome Sarah’s House extended to Whitney has gone a long way in building her confidence and hope for a stable future....
