An apple a day doesn’t keep hunger away, even for the smallest of us. Fortunately, one-year-old Trinity’s stay at Catholic Charities’ Sarah’s House ensures she’ll receive three hot, nutritious meals a day.
The need for food and her family’s poverty brought them to the shelter in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. When her mother Whitney was evicted from their apartment for challenging the landlord about criminal activity in the building, the young mother had no where to go or any resources to find food. In addition to food and shelter, prospects for a better life were offered through case management at the shelter for homeless families in Anne Arundel County.
Now Whitney looks for work while Trinity and her three-month-old brother Cason are cared for at the on-site daycare program. The family’s long-term goals of creating a savings plan and finding affordable permanent housing are addressed through financial budgeting sessions.
The services provided at Sarah’s House have moved mother and children from being dire statistics to a secure family with a bright future.
